Saltash 21 : Tavistock 61
A grey, blustery sky did nothing to dampen the spirits of the Saltash
and Tavistock under 12s, and by the end of the morning the sun was
shining on an excellent performance by both sides. Tavistock made up
for their slow start in the last couple of matches with three
unstoppable tries by Charlie in the first fifteen minutes, all coolly
converted by Matthew. Saltash were unable to capitalise on their strong
scrum and good communication between Finn and Charlie won Tavistock
another try despite a fierce Saltash defence. All credit to Saltash,
they did not let this setback get to them, and scored a well deserved
try shortly before half time.
Tavistock rucked well throughout the match, setting the ball well after
some strong Saltash tackles. Harvey opened the Tavistock scoring in the
second half with a try converted by Christian, and successfully
converted another try soon after. Best support player was Alec, and
tackle of the match came from Alex. Saltash came back bravely in the
second half but were unable to catch up the Tavistock lead.
