Tavistock 26 : Kingsbridge 14
Tavistock 28 : Crediton 7
Tavistock under 12s faced stiff opposition last Sunday, against two of
the stronger local sides.
Kingsbridge were warmed up by their earlier win against Crediton, and
played a tough, physical game. Most of the action came in the first
half, with Tavistock team captain Charlie showing his pace with three
tries in the first fifteen minutes, two converted by Matt. Kingsbridge
scored an excellent try after a bold interception, and after some
impressive handling again outpaced the Tavistock defence. Alec played
an excellent game, his hard work all through the half was rewarded with
a try before half time, converted by Christian. Both teams got a bit
bogged down in the second half, neither side conceding any more points.
Both teams shrugged off their tired legs for the first half of the
Crediton v Tavistock match. This was another physical game, with the
Tavistock boys offloading well, and great tries from Angus converted by
Matt, and Tom converted by himself. Tavistock’s tackling in the first
half lacked conviction, and Crediton were unlucky not to score on a
couple of occasions. An intercepted pass in the second half let them
through for a try, Tavistock scoring twice more to leave the final
score 28 points to 7. The game was closer than the score suggests, and
provided great entertainment for the families and supporters.
