Okehampton 35 : Tavistock 28
Tavistock under 12s played their best match of the season so far, away
against Okehampton. The spectators were treated to four quarters of
thrilling rugby, though once again Tavistock took some time to warm up,
and conceded two converted tries in the first quarter. In the second
quarter Tavistock got into their stride, with a fine tackle from
Harvey. Despite a clear weight advantage for the Okehampton scrum,
Tavistock didn’t give any ground and a great try by Christian, and
converted by Matt restored the team’s confidence after a third
Okehampton try. In the third and fourth quarters Tavistock dominated,
conceding two more tries but with three tries from Charlie, converted
by Christian, Harvey and Matt. Despite being agonisingly close to
scoring twice in the final seconds of the game, time ran out for
Tavistock with a total of four tries against Okehamptons five, all
converted. Both teams can be very proud of their performance and it was
good to see so many parents applauding great play from both sides. Best
tackle of the match came from Morgan, and best rucker was Charlie.
