Tavistock 7
: Camborne 33
Devons waterlogged pitches meant Tavi’s under twelves made
the journey to Newquay for two friendly games last Sunday. Despite not
having played for a month, the boys got off to a good start in their
first match against Newquay. Alex scored a fine try early in the first
half, confidently converted by Tom. Charlie and Tom worked well
together in the second half, both scoring tries, though both
conversions were narrowly missed in the strong crosswind. Newquay came
back with a late try, ending the match 17 points to 5.
The boys and girls of Camborne proved their toughest opponents so far
this season, with a strong, sustained attack on the Tavi tryline. They
scored twice in the first half, and three times in the second, but
despite playing against the wind Charlie and Tom restored the teams
spirits with a well deserved converted try. This was a good team
performance throughout both matches.
