Plymstock 0 : Tavistock 68
An unexpectedly cold Sunday morning at Staddiscombe saw a rather one
sided match between Plymstock and Tavistock. The tone of the match was
set literally a few seconds after the whistle when Charlie went over
the line for the first of the side's ten tries and nine conversions.
Tavistock played especially well in the first quarter with some fine
direct running. Tries from Charlie, Bertie, Christian, Finn, Morgan and
Joe came quickly all supported by some great work up front, notably by
Morgan who had a great match. Plymstock gamely fought on and despite
being 40-0 down at half time did not give up. They contested the scrums
very well and clearly had the edge when it came to raw strength but
Tavistock's forwards played well in the loose and were not intimidated
by the size of their opponents. The game continued in much the same
vein after the half time break with four tries from Charlie, Harvey,
Bertie and Christian. Most of the team had a go at the conversions and
it is encouraging that only one was missed. At 68 - 0 the final whistle
blew at the end of a very satisfying but muddy encounter.
