Saltash 45 : Tavistock 55
Saltash 30 : Tavistock 55
GAME 1
A veritable try fest took place on sunday when Tavi travelled across
the border to Saltash. A very even game ensued with the score see
sawing back and forth,. Tavistock started from the off with a strong
defensive line but a determined Saltash team found their way through
enough to bring the half time score to 6 tries to 5 in Tavi's favour.
Tavistock came out in the second half with a more disciplined defence
which thwarted the Saltash attacks by forcing them wide and applying
constant pressure to force errors, The Tavi team stamped it mark by
some intelligent cross field switch balls and confident sidestepping
leaving the Saltash defence standing. Tavistock tries coming from Henry
Varndell Dawes(1), Lois Thornton(1), Noah Berridge (3), James White(1),
Loius peake(3), Harry Edwards(1) and Joe Inmans piercing run ending in
a well earned try .. A very close game with both teams playing some
good rugby.
GAME 2
The second ame saw the teams continue the end to end game in the first
half. Again some good support play and strong defence by both sides saw
half time at 4 all. However Tavistock seemed to step up a gear in the
second half with yet more defence splitting runs and wide attacks
fuelled by some quick hands moving the ball across the pitch. Tavis
defensive pressure lalso leading to some great turnover play and to
full length runs by Louis Peake deservedly adding to his tally for the
day. Again the whole team played their part with some solid tagging
from William Chapman and Devon Jackman and some confident attacking
play by Tom Gardner, Jack Baker and James Kenyon. Young James being
very unlucky not to score on several occaisions. Tavi tries came from
Henry Varndell-Dawes, Harry Edwards(3), Louis Peake( 3), James White(3)
and Noah Berridge.
