Launceston 45 : Tavistock 20
Launceston 25 : Tavistock 40
GAME 1
Having suffered an enforced break from matches and training since Mid
November, Tavistock U8s finally got back on the pitch at Launceston on
Sunday. A rusty start to the new year ensued with Launceston's strong
support in attack causing Tavistock to fight some desperate battles to
keep Launceston's attacks at bay. Tavistock took a while to find their
feet but their attacking play started to take shape with some superb
passages of play in the second half, moving the ball across the field
stretching the disciplined Launceston defence to its limits in an
attempt to find a way through. Some excellent teamwork and passing lead
to tries from Noah Berridge(2) , Henry Varndell -Dawes down the left
and Harry Edwards from the right, The two teams seemed fairly evenly
matched but a series of simple errors land lapses in concentration
letting Tavi down at the last minute allowing the home side to
capitalise
GAME 2
A second match saw Tavistock step up the pace with more of the same
intelligent use of width in both attack and defence. The tavistock
attack were much more successful at creating the gaps and exploiting
them to the full. Little Jame Kenyon showing great stamina's in coming
back from a hard knock in the first game to score two superb solo
efforts straight from starts and providing some probing runs to create
opportunities for several of the tavi tries in this game. A much more
determined defence from Tavi kept the home score down this time and
once again the attacking play saw some great interplay between centres
and wingers to run in from James White(2) Harry Edwards, Louis Peake,
Noah Berridge, Henry Varndell- Dawes and a well deserved try for
defensive rock Harry Richardson.
