brought back down to earth by a determined Okehampton side last
sunday.Tavistock started slowly Okehampton were able to find and
exploit the gaps in the Tavistock defence to the tune of 4 ties by half
time. Tavistock rallied and replied with some fierce attacks but with
only one soiltary try by Louis Peake resulting..Tavistock started the
second half with a renewed vigour ,organised their defence and started
to make headway on the deficit by breaking down the Okehampton attacks
with a disciplined defensive line and structuring their attacks using
some great passing play to switch directions. Good support work from
Joe Inman and Lois Thornton lead to a further three tries for Tavistock
from Henry Varndell-Dawes, Louis Peake and a well earned try for Harry
Richardson having played a major role in thwarting the Okehampton
wingers throughout the game. As Okehampton dominated the first half
Tavistock took the second. However time ran out for Tavistock and
another Okehampton try resulted in a slim defeat for Tavistock after
such a plucky comeback.
GAME 2
A second game with fresh players saw Okehampton finish the day as they
started - finding loopholes in the Tavistock defence with some fast
running and good use of width alowing them to run in 7 tries to 4.
Tavistock worked hard as a team to stay in the game with some spirited
performances from Tom Gardener and Devon Jackman..The four Tavistock
tries coming form Harry Edwards and Noah Berridge ( 2 apiece). Noah's
second coming after a sterling run by Jack Baker ending with Jack being
tagged almost on the try line. Again great defensive work by Harry
Richardson and William Chapman kept the Okehampton score down. But In
the end the Okehampton team were too strong for the developing
Tavistock side.
