As we approach the end of pre-season training, I am looking forward with much enthusiasm to my second full season as coach of Tavistock Rugby Football Club. Fourth spot in the league last year, as far as I was concerned, was an underachievement given the ability of the players that we have at the club. However all things happen for a reason and we have learnt many lessons from last seasons campaign. We have been working hard on addressing our weaknesses.

Despite remaining in the same league I fully expect the coming season to be a tougher test. All teams are raising their game and the standard of rugby is improving. This means that if we have aspirations of greater things at Tavistock then we have to be switched on right from the word go and completely focussed on the goals that we have set ourselves. (Not forgetting to have the maximum amount of fun along the way)

Increasing our playing base was a priority for the new season and during pre-season training we have welcomed a number of new players to the club. I look forward to them all making their mark on the pitch and contributing to what I hope will be an enjoyable and successful season for all the senior teams at Tavistock.

Tavistock Rugby Football Club is a forward looking club with an inclusive, player centred approach. Players benefit from qualified coaching staff with National League, Premiership and County experience. We would extend a warm welcome to any new players wishing to join the club.
